Versace names Caroline Deroche Pasquier VP of Global Communications

Published
Jan 8, 2024

The house of Versace has named Caroline Deroche Pasquier to be its new head of VP of Global Communications, as part of a latest overhaul at the Milanese house.

Caroline Deroche Pasquier - Ezra Petronio

Deroche is very much fashion comms royalty. Her mother, Dominique Deroche, was the press department boss of Yves Saint Laurent for four decades, a veritable right-hand woman to both Yves and his partner Pierre Bergé.

Caroline, who joins Versace from another Milan-based house Bottega Veneta, has had an equally distinguished career. She first entered YSL in 1990 and became attaché de presse until 2002. Subsequently, Deroche moved to Louis Vuitton for five years, before joining Givenchy as Press and PR Director, rising to Communications Director in a nine-year stint.

After that Deroche crossed the pond to Coach, spending three and a half years in New York as SVP Global Public Relations and Brand Communications. Next returning to Europe in 2019 as CMO at Stella McCartney in London, prior to joining Bottega Veneta in October 2020 as Global Comms Director.

In short, almost alone among senior comms directors in fashion, Deroche has held senior positions in the big four fashion capitals of London, Milan, New York and Paris.

“I am very excited to be joining Versace, a house with incredible DNA, helmed creatively by Donatella Versace, one of the most respected designers in our industry, and a unique icon in fashion. Now, let’s go!” Deroche told FashionNetwork.com.

Emmanuel Gintzburger CEO of Versace - Versace

Last year, as part of a major revamp at Versace by Emmanuel Gintzburger, the house hired a series of seasoned professionals for top marketing, comms and digital positions.

Notably, Versace named Georgina Scholtens-Day as Vice President Global Marketing and Communications, Digital and Customer Journey, joining Versace after stints at Gucci, Saint Laurent and Zegna. Also joining the Medusa-head Fashion house were Valeria Breda, Vice President Global Innovation and IT, after working at Vuitton, Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney; Giorgia Carastro, Vice President Digital and Omnichannel, who had previously overseen Digital strategy at Gucci for seven years; and  Stefania Lacarenza, Vice President Visual Merchandising, a veteran of Prada, Miu Miu and Gucci.

“I am extremely pleased that Versace has attracted these top-tier industry professionals to guide the brand in its next phase of growth and profitability,” said Gintzburger, who was named the CEO of Versace in September 2022, after six years as CEO of Alexander McQueen.

“With these leadership changes, we will continue to drive the transformation strategy, elevating the brand with a consumer, creative and innovation-driven approach. This group of purposeful leaders, who have extensive international experiences and an entrepreneurial spirit, will, together, take the brand to the next level,” the CEO underlined.
