Podcast: Simone Gibertoni from Clinique La Prairie deciphers cutting-edge technologies to enhance human lifespan
The aspiration to erase age-related cellular signs and embrace graceful aging in robust health is at the core of Clinique La Prairie's mission. Nestled along the tranquil shores of Lake Geneva, the Swiss company offers a luxury wellness experience and pioneering proactive anti-aging treatments. In this episode of the LuxurynsightXFashionNetwork podcast, Simone Gibertoni, the company's CEO, joins Godfrey Deeny, global editor of FashionNetwork.com, to delve into the realm of cutting-edge technologies crafted to enhance human longevity.
From antioxidant injections and daily tonics to neuro-wave stimulations, Clinique La Prairie stands as a pioneer in creating custom anti-aging treatments through cellular therapy. Established in 1931 by the military doctor Paul Niehans in Montreux, it now gracefully balances between a state-of-the-art medical center and a prestigious spa. Annually, they carry out 1,530 procedures.
While the establishment currently benefits from the "current longevity industry boom," according to its CEO Gibertoni, its rejuvenating cures have attracted clientele worldwide since the 1950s. Hollywood actresses such as Greta Garbo and Marilyn Monroe were among its early admirers, and even the Vatican found solace here when Pope Pius XII, who was suffering from back problems, sought treatment at the Swiss clinic - an anecdote that brings a smile to the CEO's face as he shares it.
"In Montreux, we offer week-long programs - a genuinely transformative week for our clients," explained Gibertoni. "We work with a holistic approach, incorporating the latest longevity technologies across four pillars: medical (supported by a team of around 50 physicians), nutrition, genetics, and well-being (both mental and physical aspects addressed at our spa)."
The establishment thus provides a diverse and highly sophisticated range of full-board treatments. The "Revitalization" programs, targeting primary body systems such as the brain, skin, microbiome, and the heart, start at €30,000 per week, with a premium version available from €49,000. Personalized detox treatments (adapted to the client's genetic and physiological characteristics) begin at €11,500, while the regenerative facial aesthetic medicine, known as "Skin Cell Boost," starts at €19,000.
Expansion of the center's global presence
"We are now establishing clinics outside of Switzerland, with a fundamental condition for our partners - they must always operate with our four pillars," added the entrepreneur, who has been leading Clinique La Prairie since August 2016. "By 2040, we aim to have 10 physical centers worldwide," said Gibertoni.
The Swiss company aspires to export its ecosystem and philosophy globally through healthcare resorts, which they call "health resorts." The first one, located near Shanghai in Anji, is set to open next year, nestled amidst a picturesque bamboo forest and endless tea plantations. The second center is scheduled for 2025, situated within the luxury tourist complex of Amaala in Saudi Arabia, facing the Red Sea.
Since the summer, Clinique La Prairie has also inaugurated well-being spaces called "longevity hubs" in Doha, Qatar, Madrid, Spain, Bangkok, Thailand, Taipei, Taiwan, and Dubai, United Arab Emirates. "These are day centers where our clients can incorporate our philosophy into their daily lives, complementing the offerings we provide in Montreux," the CEO further explained.
As the clinic expands its network of medical centers worldwide, it remains focused on its commitment to provide the utmost quality of care. "We have given precise instructions to our laboratory: all our products, positioned in the luxury segment, must be entirely manufactured in Switzerland using the finest patented ingredients, rigorously tested, etc. I like to refer to them as 'longevity supplements,'" quipped Gibertoni.
Clinique La Prairie boasts a significant cosmetic legacy. Following the passing of its founder, Dr. Paul Niehans, the Montreux-based company launched a beauty brand named La Prairie in 1987, which rapidly became renowned for its luxury treatments, such as the "Skin Caviar" cream - which hasn't aged a day in 40 years. Today, the brand is part of the portfolio of the German group Beiersdorf, the same entity that also owns Nivea and Eucerin.
